The California High School Transit Alliance recognizes the importance of keeping our state’s rapid transit networks from falling off the ‘fiscal cliff,’ which would have disastrous consequences for not only millions of riders but the entire Bay Area. Therefore, the Alliance Board has voted unanimously to endorse both the Connect Bay Area sales tax measure and the Stronger Muni for All parcel tax measure, which will keep Bay Area students (and all residents) moving.
Quote from CalHSTA president David Rabinovich: “No transit system is too big to fail. Falling off the fiscal cliff means more traffic, slower commutes, and increased vehicle emissions, all of which stand in direct opposition to our Alliance’s core mission: safe, reliable, and convenient public transit for all California students. Let’s get this done and move on to making service better for everyone!”
Quote from CalHSTA vice president Ben Mangiafico: “At a time when so many of our state’s transit systems are nearing a vital crossroads, it’s more important than ever to stand up for public transit, and for transit riders across the state. That’s why I’m so proud that CalHSTA is endorsing these two vital measures, which will make the lives of millions of Bay Area residents better and prevent disastrous cuts to some of the nation’s leading rapid transit systems.”

The California High School Transit Alliance brings together clubs and student organizations from across the state to help students get around with safe, reliable, and affordable public transit. With member organizations across the state - from San Diego to San Mateo - we want to encourage every student to try transit and advocate for making it even better.
